Flight training in one of the world's most modern light sports aircraft is now available through Northam Aero Club.

The club has reached an agreement with the Sport Aviation Academy to offer lessons in the latest Jabiru two-seat trainer.

The fibreglass Jabiru, designed and built in Australia, is a leader in the new lights sports category that is now dominating recreational aviation throughout the world.

Academy chief flying instructor Glenn Hawser will be available every Sunday at Northam Airport and by arrangement at other times. He will operate from the Club's premises.

Training in the Jabiru 160 is $150 an hour, with private hire to certificated pilots at $110 an hour, and all operations are covered by comprehensive insurance.

A Recreational Aircraft Australia pilot certificate can be gained in as little as 20 hours of training - it's competency-based. Hours flown in the Jabiru count towards a CASA licence.
